Description
Light Green Achu Kattu Traditional Dot Sungudi Cotton Saree with Blouse — Straight from Madurai’s Looms
Light green is one of those colours that works beautifully across generations — young enough to feel fresh, traditional enough to feel right for every occasion. Paired with a rich dark brown Rudraksh Rettapet border, this sungudi cotton saree with blouse is the kind of combination that feels considered and complete the moment you drape it. No searching for a matching blouse, no second-guessing — everything you need is right here.
The Kattu Saayam process — what makes this saree special
This is an Achu Kattu Sungudi — one of Madurai’s most authentic sungudi cotton saree styles, made using traditional clamp and wax-resist dyeing, a labour-intensive method that no machine can replicate. Artisans hand-stamp hot wax in the classic traditional dot pattern onto the cotton fabric using carved wooden blocks. Every single dot is placed individually by hand. The fabric is then dyed, the wax removed, and what’s left is that dense, characteristic traditional dot pattern covering the body — slightly irregular, completely unique, entirely handmade.
The fresh light green body is woven from pure Madurai cotton — fine, breathable, and naturally comfortable even through a long day. The rich dark brown Rudraksh Rettapet border with gold zari gives it a warm, earthy contrast that makes this sungudi cotton saree with blouse perfect for temple visits, family gatherings, or any occasion where you want to look effortlessly traditional.
No two pieces are identical. That’s not a flaw — that’s the point.

A note about colour — please read before ordering
Because these sarees are traditionally hand-dyed using natural processes, colour bleeding is expected — especially in the first few washes. This is completely normal and a sign of authentic dyeing. You may also notice slight sand smudges; sungudi sarees are dyed and dried in sand under sunlight as part of the traditional process.
Care instructions:
- First wash: Soak in cold water with a handful of rock salt for 15–20 minutes to help lock colour
- Wash separately: Hand wash alone with mild shampoo or liquid detergent — no washing machine, no harsh bleach
- Drying: Gently squeeze out excess water (do not wring), dry in shade — not direct sunlight
- Avoid long soaking; these are made from fine threads
A word on handcrafted pieces
Every Achu Kattu sungudi cotton saree with blouse is handmade, and slight variations in weave, pattern placement, or colour tone are natural and expected. A few thread pulls here and there are part of what makes a handcrafted piece genuinely handcrafted. The actual colour may also vary slightly from photos due to lighting and screen settings.
