Small white floret sprinkles scatter across the upper body of this leaf green saree, while lower down, large peacock motifs in white and soft yellow spread their tails in bold, curling detail. It’s a design that builds — light and airy up top, rich and detailed as it moves down.

What makes this a batik sungudi saree

This piece is made using the traditional clamp and wax-resist dyeing technique, with wax stamped onto the fabric in these detailed peacock and floret motifs before dyeing. As the wax handles through the process, it naturally develops fine cracks, letting the dye seep through in places — this is what gives batik work its signature crackle texture. No two pieces crackle exactly the same way, which is part of what makes each one genuinely one of a kind.

The border stays clean with a gold zari band and repeating floral motif, while the pallu carries the peacock theme through in a smaller, denser scale — rows of peacock motifs running the length, threaded with fine gold zari pinstripes. It’s a cohesive finish that keeps the peacock as the star from body to pallu.

This saree comes without a blouse piece, so you’re free to pair it with whatever you already have on hand or get one stitched to match.

A note about the dyeing process
🌸 During the dyeing process, our sungudi sarees are traditionally dried on sand. Because of this, you may notice slight sand-coloured marks on some sarees. This is not a defect or a colour issue — these marks will disappear after the first wash.

Care instructions:

• Hand wash separately in cold water with mild detergent
• Avoid machine wash and harsh bleach
• Gently squeeze, dry in shade
• Avoid long soaking

Actual colour may appear slightly different from photos due to lighting and screen settings. Slight variations in weave, pattern placement, or colour tone are natural and expected in a handcrafted piece.
