Bottle Green Sungudi Batik Saree with Peacock Motifs and Peacock Pallu

Bold mustard yellow peacock motifs perch across this bottle green base, paired with small floral rosette clusters scattered in between for balance. As the design nears the edge, fine pinstripe lines run down alongside rows of smaller peacocks, carrying the motif through to the pallu.

What makes this a batik sungudi saree
This piece is made using the traditional clamp and wax-resist dyeing technique, with wax stamped onto the fabric in these peacock, floral rosette, and stripe motifs before dyeing. As the wax handles through the process, it naturally develops fine cracks, letting the dye seep through in places — this is what gives batik work its signature crackle texture. No two pieces crackle exactly the same way, which is part of what makes each one genuinely one of a kind.

The pallu carries the same peacock motif in miniature, repeated in tight rows between the pinstripe lines, giving it a dense, patterned finish that stays true to the body’s design. A gold zari border with a fine leaf motif runs along the edge, tying the whole piece together.

This saree comes without a blouse piece, so you’re free to pair it with whatever you already have on hand or get one stitched to match.

As with all our batik sungudi sarees, no two pieces are identical — the crackle pattern and motif placement will vary slightly from what’s shown in photos.

A note about the dyeing process
🌸 During the dyeing process, our sungudi sarees are traditionally dried on sand. Because of this, you may notice slight sand-coloured marks on some sarees. This is not a defect or a colour issue — these marks will disappear after the first wash.

• Avoid machine wash and harsh bleach
• Gently squeeze, dry in shade
• Avoid long soaking
