Mustard yellow fern sprays trail freely across this bottle green base, joined by small floral rosette circles scattered in the open spaces. As the design moves toward the edge, a paisley-floral scroll border takes over, running alongside fine gold pinstripe lines.

What makes this a batik sungudi saree
This piece is made using the traditional clamp and wax-resist dyeing technique, with wax stamped onto the fabric in these fern, rosette, and paisley motifs before dyeing. As the wax handles through the process, it naturally develops fine cracks, letting the dye seep through in places — this is what gives batik work its signature crackle texture. No two pieces crackle exactly the same way, which is part of what makes each one genuinely one of a kind.

The pallu takes a structured turn — a bold diamond-shaped floral medallion filled with fern-like leaf detailing sits at the centre, framed by rosette circles and dotted borders, with pinstripe lines running above. It gives the pallu a striking, well-composed finish that stands apart from the body while keeping the same motifs consistent throughout.

This saree comes without a blouse piece, so you’re free to pair it with whatever you already have on hand or get one stitched to match.

A note about the dyeing process
🌸 During the dyeing process, our sungudi sarees are traditionally dried on sand. Because of this, you may notice slight sand-coloured marks on some sarees. This is not a defect or a colour issue — these marks will disappear after the first wash.

• Hand wash separately in cold water with mild detergent
• Avoid machine wash and harsh bleach
• Gently squeeze, dry in shade
• Avoid long soaking

Actual colour may appear slightly different from photos due to lighting and screen settings. Slight variations in weave, pattern placement, or colour tone are natural and expected in a handcrafted piece.
