Description
Cream Vairaoosi Premium Sungudi Saree
There’s something about a cream sungudi saree that feels made for festive mornings. Picture temple visits, family functions and the first day of a celebration. This Vairaoosi sungudi saree pairs a soft cream body with a deep red border, a combination Tamil homes have loved for generations. It’s elegant enough for festivals and weddings, and still comfortable enough to wear all day.
About Vairaoosi
Vairaoosi is one of Madurai’s festive-weight sungudi sarees, woven in premium 120-count cotton. The fine count gives the fabric a smooth, soft hand with a lovely drape, while the zari work adds a gentle shimmer. It’s a sungudi saree for special occasions that still breathes easily in South Indian weather.
Body, border and pallu
The cream body carries alternating bands of golden zari blocks and plain cream. Each band is separated by fine zigzag zari lines that catch the light as you move. The border is a deep red featuring pairs of peacocks facing each other among flowing creepers, all woven in gold zari, with a delicate wave pattern running along its edge. The pallu continues in red with wide gold zari stripes, so it shines beautifully when draped over the shoulder.

A note about colour – please read before ordering
This saree is made using traditional processes, so colour bleeding is expected, especially in the first few washes. This is completely normal and a sign of authentic work. Because the body is a light cream, you may notice small smudges or patches of other colours on it. These come from the handmade process and are not a defect. You may also notice slight sand smudges, since sungudi sarees are traditionally dried on sand under sunlight. The actual colour may also look slightly different from the photos due to lighting and screen settings.
Please note: we do not offer exchanges for colour smudges, colour bleeding or colour variations, as these are a natural part of how this saree is made.
Care instructions
First wash: Soak in cold water with a handful of rock salt for 15–20 minutes to help lock in the colour
Wash separately: Hand wash alone with mild shampoo or liquid detergent. Do not use a washing machine or harsh bleach.
Drying: Gently squeeze out excess water (do not wring) and dry in shade, not direct sunlight
Avoid long soaking, as these sarees are made from fine threads
A word on handcrafted pieces
Every Vairaoosi sungudi saree from Madurai is made the traditional way. Slight variations in zari placement, colour tone and small colour smudges are natural and expected, and they’re part of what makes each saree its own. The actual colour may also vary slightly from the photos due to lighting and screen settings.
