Technique

This piece is made using the traditional clamp and wax-resist dyeing technique, with wax stamped onto the fabric in detailed kolam motifs before dyeing. Body, border, pallu

The leaf green body carries an elaborate white kolam pattern, interlocking knotwork motifs repeating across the fabric with a fine gold edge tracing each line.
