Navy Blue Premium Sungudi Saree — Straight from Madurai’s Looms

Navy and pink is a pairing that never fails to turn heads, and this premium sungudi saree makes the most of it — a plain navy body that lets the wide pink gopuram border do all the talking. It’s the kind of contrast that photographs beautifully and looks even richer in person.

The gopuram motif — inspired by the towering temple gateways Madurai is famous for — is woven in gold zari against a vivid pink border, running wide along one edge of the saree. The other side carries a smaller, more restrained geometric diamond border, giving the saree a lovely asymmetry between its two edges. The plain navy body has no distracting pattern, so the borders and pallu get to be the real stars.

This is premium Madurai cotton — not the 120 count variety, but still a step above our standard weave, with a smooth, comfortable finish. The pallu carries the same wide gopuram border, finished with fine gold zari lines running across it, making it just as striking as the rest of the saree.
