Description
Rose Milk Valli Kattam Sungudi Saree
There’s a particular softness to rose milk when it’s woven through with gold — like the first blush of dawn settling over still water, gentle without fading into pale. This Valli Kattam sungudi saree carries that same softness, checks and zari worked together across the body, making it just as suited to a Friday temple visit as it is to a family gathering.
Technique
This is a Valli Kattam Sungudi — woven in pure Madurai sungudi cotton, with fine gold zari threads worked into the weave itself to form the check pattern across the body. Unlike the wax-resist sungudi styles, this pattern isn’t dyed on — it’s built directly into the fabric as it’s woven, giving the checks a crisp, consistent structure with that characteristic zari shimmer catching the light.
Body, border, pallu
The body carries this fine zari check pattern in rose milk throughout, structured and even, with the gold catching light differently depending on how the fabric falls. The border is a wide gold zari double border worked in a detailed floral motif, giving the saree its formal edge. The pallu continues the story — the same zari checks run through it, joined by zari lines, so the pattern feels continuous rather than cut off at the border.

Care instructions
Hand wash separately with mild shampoo or liquid detergent — no washing machine, no harsh bleach. Gently squeeze out excess water (do not wring), dry in shade — not direct sunlight. Avoid long soaking; these are made from fine threads.
A word on woven pieces
Every Valli Kattam sungudi saree carries slight natural variations in the zari weave and check placement — this is expected with woven textiles and part of what makes each piece genuinely unique.
