Description
Mustard Yellow Achu Kattu Single Dot Pure Cotton Sungudi Sarees Online — Straight from Madurai’s Looms
Mustard yellow and black is a combination with real character — warm and earthy on one side, bold and dramatic on the other. As one of our most striking pure cotton sungudi sarees online, this one carries that contrast beautifully. The mustard body glows against the deep black border, and the gold zari ties it all together into something that feels both traditional and utterly timeless.
The Kattu Saayam process — what makes this saree special
This is an Achu Kattu Sungudi — one of Madurai’s finest pure cotton sungudi sarees, made using traditional clamp and wax-resist dyeing, a labour-intensive method that no machine can replicate. Artisans hand-stamp hot wax in precise dot patterns onto the cotton fabric using carved wooden blocks. Every single dot is placed individually by hand. The fabric is then dyed, the wax removed, and what’s left is that characteristic single dot pattern scattered evenly across the body — slightly irregular, completely unique, entirely handmade.
The warm mustard yellow body is woven from pure Madurai cotton — fine, breathable, and naturally comfortable even through a long day. The deep black Rudraksh Rettapet border with gold zari gives it a sharp, bold finish that makes this pure cotton sungudi saree online perfect for festivals, temple visits, or any occasion where you want to make a quietly confident statement.
No two pieces are identical. That’s not a flaw — that’s the point.

A note about colour — please read before ordering
Because these sarees are traditionally hand-dyed using natural processes, colour bleeding is expected — especially in the first few washes. This is completely normal and a sign of authentic dyeing. You may also notice slight sand smudges; sungudi sarees are dyed and dried in sand under sunlight as part of the traditional process.
Care instructions:
- First wash: Soak in cold water with a handful of rock salt for 15–20 minutes to help lock colour
- Wash separately: Hand wash alone with mild shampoo or liquid detergent — no washing machine, no harsh bleach
- Drying: Gently squeeze out excess water (do not wring), dry in shade — not direct sunlight
- Avoid long soaking; these are made from fine threads
A word on handcrafted pieces
Every Achu Kattu pure cotton sungudi saree is handmade, and slight variations in weave, pattern placement, or colour tone are natural and expected. A few thread pulls here and there are part of what makes a handcrafted piece genuinely handcrafted. The actual colour may also vary slightly from photos due to lighting and screen settings.
