Description
This beautiful kerosene lamp from decades past is sure to light up your home! Exceptionally crafted in brass this beautiful piece follows traditional design and features a columnar lamp that stands on a circular base. The piece has a large fuel reservoir on top that slightly flares out and soon tapers into a narrow wick holder. The top of the piece can be screwed open to insert wicks and refuel the lamp. A rich patina envelopes the entirety of the piece, adding to its old world aesthetic.
Iron kerosene lamps were once very common in every household but the affluent had lamps made in the image of traditional Kuthu vilakkus. It is suspected that this design was influenced by the English Candelabra, as such lamps were made under Colonial influences.
This beauty has been procured from Salem and is estimated to be between 60 and 70 years of age!
Styling and usage: This beautiful lamp makes for a wonderful addition to pre-existing arrangements around the home. It can be placed on entryway consoles, into alcoves or on ledges.
