Description
This traditional incense pot or incense boat is a decades old piece that has just arrived at our studio. Beautifully crafted in white brass, this piece is set on a conical stand with a flat base. The form is that of a boat with a deep and wide bowl to hold the incense. The top features a curled end at the back and one with a downward flare in the front. The hinged lid provides access to the contents of the pot and retains the curvature in the form. A rich patina envelopes the piece, adding to its vintage charm. These incense pots were used to hold incense for thuribles during Christian service.
This piece has been procured from Kumbakonam and is estimated to be between 40 and 50 years of age.
Styling and usage: This incense pot can be used as intended and also incorporated into decor arrangements around the home.
