One such festival almost round the corner is the Tamil New Year, traditionally known as Puthuvarusham, Varusha Pirappu, or Puthandu, which comes with the promises of a glorious new beginning.

Tamil New Year marks the starting of the first month – ‘Chitthirai’ in the Tamil calendar. Though not entirely a religious festival, Puthuvarusham holds a special place in people’s hearts because as per Hindu mythology, Lord Brahma (God of creation) started creating the world on this day.
